37.0 How are Frame Errors counted by the Mobile?
Frame Errors are counted by the Mobile with the following procedure:
- Initially, the Mobile Unit shall set the Total-Frame counter and the Bad-Frame counter to zero.
- Then, it shall maintain an active count of the Total number of received Frames; and an active count of the received Bad Frames.
- From these two counts, the Frame Error Rate (FER) statistics can be estimated.
- To support Forward Traffic Channel Power Control, the Mobile Unit must report the estimated FER statistics to the Base Station.
- In the periodic reporting mode, the Mobile reports the FER statistics periodically.
- In the Threshold reporting mode, the Mobile Unit reports the FER statistics only when the FER reaches a specified Threshold.
